DAN BURMAN

Dan presents a photographic series, which traces his visit to the West Bank in 2009.  As a young Jewish man, he took up the offer of a Birthright trip to Israel.  Whilst there, he felt disturbed by the inconsistencies he saw within its society.

Compelled to seek out the truth, he subsequently booked a trip to Palestine to see the reality for himself.  These  images take us on his  journey of discovery of the West Bank - its people, its landscape and its culture.

Kate Holland

Fold out accordion of 8 letterpress printed cards mounted on black bookcloth, hand dyed and reverse offset printed covers of fair goat with hand dyed fair goat inlays, blind tooling, Losiny handmade paper doublures.

The photograph on the reverse depicts wreckage in Deir Al Balah, January 16, 2024 © Zuma Press Inc. The names of a small percentage of the nearly 15,000 children killed in the Gaza conflict are handwritten by the binder. They are all under 3 years of age.

THROUGH THE CRACKS

Mel Hurst

Porcelain & mixed media.

This piece represents the resilience, hope and beauty that continues to grow even through the darkest times.  The broken pieces of porcelain symbolise shattered lives and destruction.  The sharp and twisted wire that they sit in constrains and challenges the clay representing those trapped and without freedom.

PALESTINIAN STORIES
